I work in a call centre for an insurance company, specifically in provider services. Most of the calls I take are for denied claims. I really thought that working in provider services and speaking with secretaries would be nice and respectful, but no.
I get so many people acting like complete Karens it’s insane, and I want so badly to know why they care?? Like I’m not invested in whether the insurance pays the claim at all. It’s not even like the member will have to pay if we don’t, these are mostly Medicaid claims. There is absolutely no reason why I’d care. These secretaries don’t work on commission or anything. I understand doing their job and calling a bunch and all of that, I just don’t understand why they’ll scream at me and shit. They get paid either way, so why do they feel emotionally invested enough in these claims to yell at me??
I feel like it just be an aspect of work culture I’ve never been taught idk
