Consider this –
If you get no adjustment to your salary, you're being paid less than last year.
If you're getting an adjustment in line with inflation, you're being paid exactly the same.
If your adjustment is the same as inflation, then your one year of experience on the job is worth nothing to your company.
Think about that – one year on the job, learning the ropes, learning new systems, getting more efficient/effective at your role. Is that worth nothing to your employer? Are you worth the exact same amount as someone with zero experience doing this job?
