I quit a job recently after being lied to by boomer management

(This happened in mid-February) I started working at a community center in January, not going to name or share location because I don’t wanna dox myself. Anyways, during the interview process I was promised 20-25 hours a week, and also promised that my availability would be no issue and they could work around that (I need Mondays off for all of my appointments; therapy mostly but also doctor stuff). My long distance partner was visiting for a week and I was scheduled the work the next day when I got the email for the entire March schedule. After they had promised 20-25 hours a week and that I could get the Mondays off that I need, oh boy was that far from what I got scheduled. They scheduled me 4-8 hours a week, with half of my scheduled hours being on Mondays. So, what was the next thing I did?…

With my partner sitting beside me, I sent an immediate resignation email, stating why I was resigning and that I would be in to drop off my key card and uniform. When I went in to drop off my things, the manager, who is in her 60s or 70s, tried telling me off and that “First off, back in my day, everyone gave a 2 weeks notice and took what they got from their boss”. Sorry to say, I don’t fall for bullsh!t from ANY job. And I haven’t looked back at all, because I’d rather not be stuck in a job full of liars.

TLDR: Don’t lie to your employees about hours and availability and then expect them to put up with it.
