I finally went fulltime selfemployed …

So I don’t know if this may be helpful for anyone but I wanted to share my story here with you guys maybe someone doubting finally dares to make the jump as I did. It only took me 17 years I worked in marketing for a film company for 5 years and things were great. Until said company bought the rights to a flop one too many times. And massive layoffs followed. I worked in marketing for a film company for 5 years and things were great. Until said company bought the rights to a flop one too many times. And massive layoffs followed. After that I worked for two years for a multinational with a boss that didn’t have the balls to make a decision. I worked for two years on projects that weren’t going anywhere since he didn’t dare to make final decisions. As soon as another employee suggested something totally different it went in that direction. And so on. I got paid fair but got nothing from satisfaction out of it.

Then I quit and started working for a smaller company and took a pay cut because they promised it would go up after 6 months, but that ended up being a dud as they made tons of promises they didn’t keep. And honestly the two bosses had no clue what to do and yet felt the need to micromanage everything.

While all this has been going on for more than ten years I started working for myself as a sidehussle. Working too many hours and spending my best hours working to make another person more money.

That lead me to finally make the leap and go fulltime self-employed. I’ve been doing that for 15 months now and I now decided on what and when I want to work. Things aren’t always easy, not going to lie, but the quality of my life has been drastically improved! I’m seriously happy I took that jump. I traded up from fairly bad bosses, jobs that went nowhere and demands of flexibility on all fronts without getting anything back …

this long read I share cause I hope maybe someone doubting may make this jump too. And I hope it works out for you as well. Besides that I’m convinced that trying and failing is better then being unhappy with the status quo.

TLDR: after years being unhappy for different reasons I finally made the self-employed jump 15 months ago and I wanted to share this story with you. So you can too!
