Why is my boss mad and what do I do?

Long story short: Joined big tech company less than a month ago. Boss assigned me last-minute, non-critical task to have done by the end of the day but didn't tell me to send it to him. He sends me a message the next day telling me he didn't get anything from my last night. I see the message late due to tech issues (have done everything I can, all I can do is wait for response from IT). He's been nice so far but he sends me back a bitter message saying I need to get it resolved by the end of the week and start taking accountability and ownership. I send him the task, he ignores my explanation, so I set up a meeting to explain myself and he tells me he's upset that I'm not being a “leader” and that I waited two weeks after my start date…

I see the message late due to tech issues (have done everything I can, all I can do is wait for response from IT). He's been nice so far but he sends me back a bitter message saying I need to get it resolved by the end of the week and start taking accountability and ownership. I send him the task, he ignores my explanation, so I set up a meeting to explain myself and he tells me he's upset that I'm not being a “leader” and that I waited two weeks after my start date to reach out to IT (which he suggested). I told him again that I've been doing everything I can- reaching out to multiple people with no answer and that I didn't know he wanted me to submit the task but that I will clarify for next time.. he seemed displeased and is still acting cold and distant.

Don't want to reveal to much out of fear that my boss is on here. I recently joined a big tech company. Boss has been nice.. until now. I've had technology issues that don't really affect my work but that I've been trying to resolve with no response from IT for the past week or two. Yesterday my boss asks me to complete a last minute task that wasn't planned and isn't really vital. He also asked me to help a coworker out with something and submit it.

Long story short, he wanted me to turn in the last minute task for review that day but didn't explicitly tell me. I start working like normal the next day and realize my messages didn't load until later that day. I have one message from him asking me about the task. I tell him I'll send it over and that I'm sorry I am just seeing this now- messaging platform didn't load the message (first time this has happened where I didn't see something from him but has happened with a meeting or two).

He then takes a 180 and tell me that I need to start taking more accountability and ownership and that he wants me to fix my tech issues within the next two days.

I send him the task and tell him I've been doing everything I can these past two weeks without a response.

He ignores it so I set up a meeting. I address the issues and everything i have done so far to resolve them. I also tell him someone finally got back to me and I was able to resolve them late last night.

He then takes a 180 and tells me the issue is that I waited for him to suggest that I submit an IT ticket two weeks after I started and that I'm not showing leadership principles- that I should not have to wait on him.

I was busy with extensive training the first two weeks, trying to learn my role, and complete assignments. I also didn't know I could or how to submit a ticket to IT but I didn't want him to think I was making excuses or that I didn't know anything so I tell him I have done everything I can and got the issue resolved.

He seemed upset with my answer and has been cold.

I work 40 hours a week and get so many big and rushed assignments thrown at me and I complete all of them.

I asked him if I could work extra hours (I'd have to get paid overtime) to complete a big assignment with a rushed due date and he says that I shouldn't be working overtime to finish assignments- that I need to do as much as possible within the 40 hours I'm allotted.

I don't know what to do.. I just started and am overwhelmed but doing my best. I feel like every time I propose a solution (like working overtime) he is displeased and shuts it down.

I feel like this is deeper than my tech issues or one late late-minute and non-critical task but I really don't know what it could be.. I just started a few weeks ago.

He was so nice before but has taken a turn since this late “task” that was turned in less than a day after it was “due”.

I want to bring up my workload but I'm scared he will see it as me not being capable or complaining.
