I can’t get covid because I have a non-refundable trip coming up – but who cares about yours?

My boss came in late to work today (pretty normal – sometimes they work from home for half or full days) and announced that they were covid-free. Apparently their partner tested positive for covid this morning so they were waiting for their test to come back negative before they came in. Upon finding out they were negative, they said they actually hoped they tested positive soon since they have a trip to Europe coming up soon and this way they can just get it over with. But it has to be before the trip, because their flight and everything else is non-refundable. We have a small office of about 10 people or so and my boss chooses to work in the common space/kitchen area instead of in their office (no mask, of course). They're continuing to stay in their apartment with covid-positive partner, just staying in a different bedroom. They'll take a covid test every day and let us know if something changes. But it's too much of a pain to work from home or wear a mask in the meantime, right?

The kicker – back in December, another staff member's partner tested positive. Per my boss's instructions at the time, no one was allowed into the studio until they had a negative PCR and the staff member with the sick partner would work from home for 10 days or until clear.
