Context: I’ve been working at a fairly popular fast food chain for around 3 years. I work a 5 day week and get paid barely minimum wage.
What happened: a couple of days or so ago, big boss man who owns all of the restaurants for this particular brand in the region comes in. He does this every now and again, checks up on how the restaurant is, fixes anything that needs to be fixed, etc. He’s been doing this since long before I ever started working here, and then one day he has the gall to tell my supervisor to tell me off for not wearing the “correct attire” (didn’t even tell me himself). So y’all can get a bit of context, the “correct attire” is dark coloured denim jeans along with the company shirt (provided). I was wearing dark coloured pants (not denim cuz denim’s fucking expensive).
Now, if I was just a school kid working a lil bit on the weekends to earn a bit of pocket money, sure I could definitely buy myself 2 dark denim jeans to wear to work like twice a week. However, I work a 5 day week and live on my own. I got rent to pay, I got bills to pay off, I gotta feed myself. I’m under 18 as well so they pay me shit all, after I pay off all my living expenses I barely have enough money to fucking eat.
What makes this guy think I have the money to buy myself goddamned denim jeans? Let alone 5 of them?? Like, buddy, if you want me to wear fucken denim jeans to work, why don’t you pay me enough to actually buy some?
