For some background, I started working at this company half way through 2021. In early March I received a bonus. Today, I received an email from management saying that they “forgot” to prorate the bonus, so they accidentally gave everyone who started at the company during 2021 the full year's bonus instead of prorating to our start dates. They then said that for the next 4 pay checks, they will be taking 7% out of each of my paychecks to compensate for the mistake.
Is this even allowed? This is billion if not trillion dollar company, wanting to take 800 dollars out of the paycheck of a struggling, low-earning employee. I'm very upset about it and just want to know if there is anything I can do to keep my money.
