Boss’s Wife Needs a Holiday Party

I worked at a company and the boss drafted people into a “Holiday Party Committee.” Against my will, I was forced to go to meetings to plan a 2020 holiday party (spoiler: that didn’t happen). Anyways, the boss told us that we unfortunately didn’t have the budget to fund this party, so let’s just assume that every employee would go and that they’d be okay with a $50 price tag ($75 for couples). As the meeting ended, he let us know that his wife was the motivation for the party. “She really wants us to have a big holiday party so I can take her downtown and show her off.” Good to know that management prioritized wasting our time and money to impress his wife…
