Some background, I (17M) have been working at a restaurant for around 5 months (my second job) and had some questions about breaks. I am an SA, so essentially cleaning tables, taking out trash, doing all the dirty work and getting treated like shit in return. Our “breaks” are basically whenever we feel we have the time to stop working for a bit, and some shifts are 8 hours of uninterrupted, no break work. We are never given the 30 minute breaks that I thought we were supposed to get. I've done research and it seems that for anyone my age, in a 4.5hr or longer shift we are entitled to 30 minutes of uninterrupted break time however their are exceptions. Do these exceptions include restaurants? Is there anything legal about what they are doing?
