Hopefully this is allowed…
At the offer stage.
Stayed vague and asked for their range, was told the lowest amount and no top mentioned. Answered that worked for me.
I am currently making 75% of the offer, I struggled to find something else after being let go during the pandemic. And took what I could get.
The offer is, admittedly higher than a lot of what I've been interviewing for. But have other interviews I've gone through.
I asked if that was the highest they could go on the offer call and were told they increased it from what I said I was looking for (aka bottom of the range). Which isn't exactly what happened, but whatever.
A gambler of a friend says I should decline the offer and when they ask why say I have a better offer.
Now, I want this job. So I lose almost all leverage. I have another final interview I'm hoping goes well.
Do I have room to go back and mention I have another offer? Either lying or waiting until I hear back after my final interview tomorrow?
Or should I be happy with the offer I have?
I feel like I'm beating myself up over this and lost all the pleasure of making 40% more basically.
