I see a lot of people talk about their office, retail, or industrial positions that completely abuse them. I was wondering if anyone else ever worked in a laboratory and felt that same kind of abuse.
Last year I was working for a French laboratory company. We were processing hundreds of samples every single day with about 4 or 5 employees handling everything. They wouldn't let us leave until all of the samples were processed and each day there was about a thousand more samples we had to get through. It ended up being 12 hour shifts 5 days a week + weekends whenever they felt they could guilt us into coming and helping our other coworkers. They didn't have chairs on the lab benches and our hands would cramp up from using laboratory equipment all day. I still feel pain in my dominant hand from clenching a pipette all day. People always hyped up careers in STEM but I felt like my biology degree wasn't even worth it at that point.
Any other lab workers/science people in this same boat?
