So i used to work at this food factory that makes tamales, the pay was alright but the work enviroment was so toxic. It all started at the supervisor. The supervisor was some really old guy who was a total dick. He would sometimes hit on the female workers at the job (the section i worked in contained alot of females), so he would constantly be hitting on some of them. Not only that, he was very rude to new workers in general, he would yell sometimes when someone fucked up or whatever. And to the dudes, he would talk down to them most of the time. One time he literally made one lady who was really nice cry when he yelled at her in front of everyone, it was awful and people defended her when he did that, but its like, how the hell is that guy still in charge?
The coworkers were worse though. It was super toxic. Most of the workers would talk shit about the new workers effectively making them leave. They would gossip alot and just make everyone else feel like shit. Not only that, the favoritism was awful, it was WAY too noticable.
Not only that, while there was alot of overtime the work life balance was awful. You go to that job at 6am and leave that job at 6-7 or sometimes 8, one hour more if you were a guy. And you would only get 1 day off randomly through out the weak.
In general i only talk about this because i see alot of posts about labor laws and etc. I just wonder if there was something i couldve done, hr werent helpful at all. Also my gf worked there recently and the work place got much worse, they kept calling her out alot and the coworkers kept treating her like shit, even though she literally talked to no one there and minded her own buisness.
