I was informed yesterday that my brother-in-law, a public school teacher who makes around $40,000 a year, has to pay for his own substitute if he takes a day off.

My parents are visiting me and my mom brought this up. I’m beyond angry. How do people put up with this. Teachers make absolutely nothing. They have to buy their own supplies. They work ungodly amounts of hours. And now this. I don’t think this is how it is across the US. But he’s in North Carolina and that’s how they treat their teachers. It makes me want to vomit.
