Got a glowing review but in return they cut my hours

Retail   California   37 years old   Electronics department, closing shifts (4PM-1130PM), 5 days a week   $15 an hour —> $15.30 an hour due to review   My review said that I met all goals and expectations   I am recognized both by my peers and general management as having great customer service and communication   Two weeks ago, because I don't get my freight of products finished before the end of my shift, they started reducing me to 4 days a week   I ask if I can have my 5 days a week back during my review, mentioning my great customer service and product knowledge   Answer is no, unless I can finish all my freight   My store is high theft, and high traffic, so there is always lots of customers who need my help   My focus is always to make the customer feel…

  • Retail

  • California

  • 37 years old

  • Electronics department, closing shifts (4PM-1130PM), 5 days a week

  • $15 an hour —> $15.30 an hour due to review

  • My review said that I met all goals and expectations

  • I am recognized both by my peers and general management as having great customer service and communication

  • Two weeks ago, because I don't get my freight of products finished before the end of my shift, they started reducing me to 4 days a week

  • I ask if I can have my 5 days a week back during my review, mentioning my great customer service and product knowledge

  • Answer is no, unless I can finish all my freight

  • My store is high theft, and high traffic, so there is always lots of customers who need my help

  • My focus is always to make the customer feel like they had a great experience (or laugh), even if they have to wait for me for 20mins to help them (remember, I am the only person in that department during my shift)

  • Without being too verbose, here are some examples of my personality and work ethic

  • “Hello, you've reached your Beverly Hills, Del Taco. This is BattleBra from the Electronics dept speaking, how may I help you tonight?” (no one in retail answers the phone, so this does factor into my freight not getting done, because employees are too afraid that their freight won't get done)

  • “For your safety and the safety of our other customers, we ask that you don't touch the displays for health reasons. We have hand sanitizer in the front if you need it.”

  • “Again, my name is BattleBra, thank you so much for your patience for waiting so long. I hope you guys enjoy your new AirPods and that you guys come back.”

  • “I'm so sorry about the wait. I know this isn't much but let me give you $1 off for waiting so long.”

  • They have offered me the fifth day back, but only as a Cashier for the front registers

  • I see this as an insult, because my breadth of knowledge in the Electronics area isn't being used, and my entire skill set is being wasted as simply a Cashier

  • I love computers and technology, but I am a very clumsy and stupid person. I fear that I will break things, which is why I don't seek something that has to do with building computers

  • Fearing that my clumsiness and stupidity can get someone killed, is also the same reason why I declined to join my friend when he studied to be an Electrician (he too worked in retail 7 years ago, and self-studied roughly 4 years ago)

  • I want to be a PR Manager or Human Relations Specialist, as my skill set naturally lean towards that, but those careers require a degree

  • I'm at the point in my life where I know what my worth is skill set-wise, but I have no fall backs to depend on in order to go to school so I can earn my true worth; if I stop working, I die, but if I keep working Retail, my expensive skill set is being exploited for $15.30 an hour

  • I don't know what to do
