Are there any hiring managers/recruiters/what-have-you in here that have needed to go to their higher ups and ask to increase a pay range for potential hires? Like say you've had trouble filling a position, and the main reason candidates have given is the low pay?
I know pay rates aren't always in the control of people trying to hire, so I was just wondering if anyone has fought for a bigger hiring budget, and what reasons were given for keeping pay low or what might have been said that actually worked in your favor.
