What do I do about my boss making attending meetings outside my work hours being compulsory?

My boss just sent out a message saying he is going to be handing out no call/no show disciplinary actions for those of us who do not attend a meeting scheduled at night time. Obviously this is outside the work hours of most of our staff and was wondering what I need to do here to ensure this doesn't become a thing? I already spoke with him about how when I was onboarded that I was promised my time off from work was non negotiable Of course, this was with a different manager. But the expectation persisted and I iterated that to him. He said he will talk to his boss about it and reconvene with me tomorrow about an update. Basically his boss is the one who is breathing down his neck about getting everybody to attend these meetings. And the thing is his boss doesn't even attend himself…

What do I do to ensure I don't get reprimanded for not attending these meetings without pushing too hard on how this isn't what I signed up for?
