Should I have stayed?

Hello all! I wanted to run my scenario to see if, maybe, I overreacted. I had been managing farmer’s markets in Southern California for nearly a year and aside from complete incompetence from the office, things were ok. I had to drive A LOT to get to and from a few of my markets (1.5 hours to and sometimes 3 from one in particular), but I never minded too much. Things had been getting tense between myself and the upper management because they found out I was moving and were irritated I didn’t tell them. I was waiting to get a definite close date on a house before I told them so I didn’t keep moving my timeline around (something that was already happening).

I was feeling them being petty towards me after that even after I apologized and accepted blame. Anyway, I was in a car accident after a market a few weeks ago and injured my foot. I walked with a boot but still did my duties. One of the Dwight Schrutes of the office showed up to one of my markets and saw me sitting in my car. She told me I had mischalked spaces and it was a huge problem. It wasn’t. I then get a text from the head saying I failed my duties, was sent home, and needed a doctors note to return to work. I got the note and worked without the boot. Now, a few weeks ago, at one of my markets, a vendor was behaving erratically. They were very high energy earlier and then would sit down and fall asleep. It got to the point they were completely incoherent when speaking to guests. I kept trying to get them to call for a ride home, but they refused. I sent images and concern to the same head person. Their response was that they have been ill and just to keep an eye on them. Towards the end of the market, this vendor dropped trow and pissed in their booth. Fortunately no guests saw but other vendors did. They all helped distract while they finished. I told all this to the head but was told not to tell the office by the head. They were eventually picked up by their spouse but were at my market the next day. Yesterday, they were late to the market and went right to the space they are normally at. Their neighbor came to me and said they didn’t feel comfortable next to them. I told the problem vendor I had another spot for them because I was putting someone else there. I was questioned if it was because of a complaint and I said no, I just wanted to put the yogurt next to the tamales since that haven’t been in a while and I wanted to ensure they were seen. They moved without hassle. A few hours later I get an angry text from the head talking about how they threatened to sue because I didn’t give them “their spot”. I explained why I moved them, that their past behavior made their neighbor uncomfortable. The response from the head was that they don’t care and I can’t move people. I said I would’ve protested too. After a few more curt words I stopped responding. I gathered my materials, booth payments, drove to the office to drop the payments, left my supplies, took a photo and sent it with my resignation.

Was I drastic? Should I have just stuck it out?
