Normally I don’t care about raises. I’m generally inclined to help my coworkers with minor programming because it makes their jobs easier. I’ve spent the last year working very hard to ensure my department is efficient, as well as taking on the additional projects. My raise this year was pathetic. So much so, I’ve decided to stop all work I had been doing outside of my job description. I don’t see the point in doing an extraordinary job for a meager wage.
I would quit, but I need income to survive. I’m also curious to see how this all plays out. What will happen if I just start telling people “no”?
