Because I wasn't dysfunctional enough to fit in there. They referred to themselves as dysfunctional. I'm a project mgr four weeks into a contract. When I asked the business leader providing direction about high level strategy and how I might best support him on a new project, his response was: He would “wing it”. 'Wing it' is not a standard practice in project management world. 'wing it' is fine when you are blowing your own money. I was also told that this guy is loved by his manager though he leaves a trail of fuck ups everywhere he goes. Fine. I thought I'd try to make this guy look good from the start. I began to ask some questions and aligned with an IT Director on some of her concerns/questions. This quickly got me unemployed. They told the contract company that I was absent often and late for calls. I was there every single day. I was late for back to back calls by a few mins because I had to pee a couple of times a day or get a drink. No one voiced any concerns until I got notified today.
I need to change gears. What are you doing in IT world that you love? I don't want to go back to school but am open to certs.
