No, I’m not the hacker Anonymous. I didn’t need to hack into the mainframe or bomb any vans to get this information. My work is too cheap to hire a proper IT man (the guy who was responsible for that got transferred to shipping because they can’t retain anyone in that position). Therefore, the payroll, and in fact all HR documents including disciplinary action, layoffs, resignation, exit interviews… all this is just dumped onto the same network drive the common drone can access. Maybe they figure us mortals are too stupid to go looking.
Well the VP of the company made $295k last year, with a very modest bonus of $8,000. Another guy, who is one of my immediate managers, makes 3x my salary and received a whopping $15k bonus, although he seems incapable of performing basic arithmetic in excel, or even moving the latest files into the correct folder, which I need him to do in order to perform my duties. The lowest salary is $44k. Keep in mind, this is not USD and that kind of salary is not enough to buy a home (the hero that made >300k last year I mentioned has 10). If you’re renting, who knows, maybe you’re paying your boss to be your landlord.
Maybe some things are best left unseen. But it was never about the money for me.
