Workplace that Randomly Laid Me Off Last Year Not Sending my W2

May 2021, the owner of a job I had last year had called me to lay me off after I just pulled a double. All annoyances aside, I was moving and still let them know that I was going to have a change of address for my taxes. Not that I was excepting a reply, I got left on read (means they at least saw it) Fast forward to January 31 of this year, I still haven’t received my W2 and it’s the deadline for employers to send it out. May 2021, the owner of a job I had last year had called me to lay me off after I just pulled a double. All annoyances aside, I was moving and still let them know that I was going to have a change of address for my taxes. Not that I was excepting a reply, I got left on read (means they at least saw it)

Fast forward to January 31 of this year, I still haven’t received my W2 and it’s the deadline for employers to send it out. I reached out to the shift manager at the time and they responded they don’t work there anymore either but they also haven’t received it.

I emailed the owner and asked for it. I get an email back, saying they never had my social security and that they were trying to call me but I never answered. I found it odd considering I never got any calls from them nor a voicemail. I also recalled filling that out for them. Correct me if I am wrong but don’t they need my social security to take out my taxes from my paycheck (something they did several times)

Regardless, I responded with my social once again and reminded them of the updated address.

It’s now been two weeks and I have yet to receive my W2 from them. My question now is what is the next course of action I should take to get it? Should I get the IRS involved?
