For those of you that have quit without having another job lined up what have you experienced as far as issues with resume gaps and being hired elsewhere?

I am in a very bad place with my job right now. I get paid well, have great hours, but I am treated so poorly and unfairly that it is affecting my personal life. Everyone close to me is encouraging me to quit and I could absolutely handle it financially for at least one year but I am so afraid of what this could mean for me down the road/while I am job hunting. I greatly appreciate any shared experiences or advice. I am not sure where else to post this nor do I really have anyone in my life who could offer solid insight. Thank you.
