I think it's good for people to work. It keeps their mind off things, can be fun to interact with your coworkers if they aren't an asshole and you earn money to buy things for yourself or someone you care about.
What bothers me is how much they want us to work. A single person can't even get a place to live if the wage is low. You need so much years of experience for an ENTRY level job. You need to work 40+ hours for that good wage job. They want you to come in whenever someone else decides to play hooky and then it's your fault you don't want to cover for them.
Then on top of it all people eventually get depressed the longer they work for the same company that doesn't have a ladder. Then even if you are able to climb the ladder your hit with more responsibility, more overtime and more workload. Then you have to wear a fancy suit, fancy tie, fancy dress, fancy pants that ends up costing a chunk of your paycheck.
To me if someone is able to work 20+ hours that should be enough for an apartment. Then if someone is willing to work over 40 hours a week should deserve a house. The fact you can work 40 hours a week and still not afford either is atrocious. Of course you can afford somewhere to live if you end up living 1+ hours away from your city. It costs you an additional hour just to travel to your company. Even if it was 30 minutes away since you still have to travel at least 30 minutes to get back home.
