Is there any nefarious reason why a company would ask you to apply on their company site after already applying and giving your resume on indeed?

It seems really bizarre to me why I have to go to a different site, create an account and fill out my resume info which ruins the entire point of using indeed in the first place. But maybe theres something to it that I'm not understanding and I could get a good reason for it.
