“Helping” after clocking out

I hate this concept, and I hate that my coworkers do it. The people in morning crew always do this. It started with one girl and then it multiplied. I know it's completely illegal but since my coworkers are doing it of their own volition I don't know what to do. Even the shift leads do it! (Idk if my manager encourages it but she does enable it) A few nights ago we were super short staffed and I watched as my coworker punched out and began helping a customer. She is usually morning crew so this is normal for her. I got super upset and asked “what do you think you're doing? You clocked out.” She responded that she was “helping” but I basically told her to leave and to not work for free. We did need the help, but I think it is sick to watch someone do…

We did need the help, but I think it is sick to watch someone do that. She looked upset and confused but I honestly was at my breaking point. IM NOT EVEN A SHIFT LEAD!!! I have no authority over her!! Or anyone!!!

(The customer who saw this interaction was super nice and even verbally patted me on the back for telling her to go home. Ty random customer!)
