Should you have to work overtime to earn enough for a living or should it be extra money for savings etc? (UK)

My partner is self employed working construction in his grandfathers company. Since his grandfather has “retired” my partner and his brother have been made directors of the company, but their grandfather still makes almost all of the money decisions, including their wages. My partner has been on £400 a week since he started about 2 years ago, and it’s been getting harder and harder for us to keep up with our money and savings, because the cost of everything is going up but his wages aren’t changing. I work as well but I can’t help much at the moment as I’m 7 months pregnant and can’t do as many hours anymore. I work as well but I can’t help much at the moment as I’m 7 months pregnant and can’t do as many hours anymore. We’ve been trying to talk to his grandad, and the rest of his family about increasing his wages since they’re making a good profit with their business, but they’re all old fashioned people who think that working 7 days a week and “cutting down on take aways” is what will solve financial problems. I disagree and think that you shouldn’t have to work your whole life away just to make enough money for surviving and never actually having time for yourself, I think overtime should be a choice if you want to have extra money for whatever else you may need after living expenses. But I can’t tell them any of that because it’s like talking to a wall, they think we’re young and stupid and don’t know how things work (even though they are all absolutely loaded so they don’t have to worry about each penny, so they don’t even keep up with current inflation, except for the rise in energy bills). It’s been really frustrating and I’ve started to look for other jobs for my fiancé, which makes me feel bad because he is in a family business, but at the same time we can’t survive on what he’s currently earning when there’s other self employed people in our town making a killing. I just don’t know what to do
