i work for an “100% ethically-rated” company based in the UK, however I'm the only one in the US.
as such, I don't get the same treatment — 6 sick days (instead of unlimited), 1/3 of the retirement fund deposits, no days off for grievement (I lost my grandmother and chosen Mom in the span of 3 months and they told me to “just think happy thoughts” and get back to work unless I didn't want to get paid), 1/2 the amount of bank holidays, 1/3 of the amount of annual PTO…. and when I asked why they told me it's because I'm not part of the team, I just work alongside the team.
my list can go on and on and on…I even quit once and they convince me they'd make it better, so I stayed while I continue to search for a new job. it hasn't gotten better.
but let's talk about today's adventure and what led up to it:
5 months ago I finally got the meeting with the CEOs to talk about a raise to cover inflation and to help them understand the need of healthcare (or enough money to pay for healthcare) in the US. instead, they brought up my died chosen mom because “they understand cancer is hard”, asked what my health conditions and chronic illnesses were that require me to need health care, and told me they didn't have the money (despite tripling my work budget and given everyone else a raise) so have I thought about just getting a second job?
so I did that: I openly put more time into my freelancing and online clients.
and today they “stumbled” upon my website and called me to say I'm in copyright infringement because I used a screenshot of their IG as an example of my work and sited a contract that expired in June 2020 on the copyright agreement I signed.
I cannot wait till I get a new job.
