Just called a delivery service person and told him about a better job

A popular franchise that promises something like “weirdly quick delivery” in my town currently has one person running it. I wouldn’t usually care (or know that) but I had a birthday recently so I got an email for a weirdly fast sandwich to be delivered for free! Awesome, right? The second my order was sent in, I was called and I was told, by the most exhausted sounding young man I can imagine, “I’m the only one here, we don’t have any other drivers”. I said well it sounds like you don’t have ANY drivers, much less workers? And he apologized and the conversation was over. I could tell he felt terrible about the fault of the company. I said well it sounds like you don’t have ANY drivers, much less workers? And he apologized and the conversation was over. I could tell he felt terrible about the fault of the company. I called him back and said I was so sorry for calling again, but I was considering applying, so could he tell me the wage? He said they start at $10 per hour. I told him the Taco Bell up the street pays MINIMUM $14 an hour, and it pays for your college without detracting from your check, as my towns livable wage is $13/hr. I hope he walked out of there and never returns. He was young and being taken advantage of and he didn’t even know! If you see this happening and you KNOW some other job will take them and (radical idea) treat them like PEOPLE, call them and tell them! I’m so sick of teen labor being “cheaper”. These are human beings, laboring, end of discussion! Stand up for those that aren’t old enough to know any better.
