Hi all,
So I did the 'unthinkable' and discussed my pay with my coworkers yesterday. I discovered that I make more than a coworker who has been with my company for many, many years. I knew I made more than her and I knew it wasn't fair, so I told her. Naturally, she is not happy and I know this will probably get around.
I do genuinely enjoy my work and I love my coworkers. However, the company is corporate.
I got hired at the 'highest' rate they're allowed to pay for my position. I had to negotiate for this, I got a much lower offer and pretty much told them to stuff it. It's nowhere near a living wage so I'm not tied to this company and I have my feelers out. I work for money, not the love of my work, at the end of the day.
So my question is, does anyone know of some good resources where I can print out where it's perfectly legal to discuss wages? I have a couple of things but I'll take any help I can get, ha!
It's also legal in my state to record a conversation without the other person's knowledge as long as I am an active contributor to the conversation. So I will be putting my phone on record as soon as I'm called in.
Thanks, everyone!
