My coworker got a higher starting rate and more responsibilities than me even though I’m the one who has significantly more experience

I work in the entertainment industry at a studio. I was hired as a PA (I'm a “part time contractor” but work full time and do all the same things as employees except with no benefits…but that's a separate post). The managers hired a new PA, I noticed that she has more responsibilities and is starting with her own company account, her own laptop, and already is learning/getting access to things that took them months to give me. Actually I'm the one who has a degree relevant to the industry, has worked on set for years, was a PA before this, a whole resume and website dedicated to my work history, while the new person with the higher rate has never even been on a set before and got her degree in something completely unrelated. She only got the job through a friend who is an employee there.

No real point in making this post besides just to vent. It's disappointing and frustrating to me. The new person is nice and friendly (a little too much sometimes, like very extroverted where I'm super reserved). She didn't do anything wrong but I can't help but be a little irritated by her over this.
