HR is not your friend

After a meeting (read: interrogation) with my HR team, I realized just how against us they are. Every single issue I had with my department was turned around on me and why I didn’t do anything about it. When I explained how I had repeatedly brought issues to the manager’s attention, it was still pinned on me and why I didn’t bring it up again. All of this was done in front of other HR workers so I felt like I was whining to an audience instead of having a meaningful discussion about how to resolve issues plaguing my workplace. Now I don’t feel comfortable talking to them or any higher ups in my company and they have effectively alienated me and many of my coworkers because of this. They. Are. Not. Your. Friends. I cannot believe it took me this long to realize it.
