Am I hearing this correctly?

tl;dr – fired bc I know my employment rights and my boss didn’t like that So I was let go from my job on Monday. My boss asked if we could have our three month review. Mind you, I have been asking for reviews every month because I wanted to make sure that during my probation I was meeting the job requirements. I only did that because I never got an actual employment contract so it was a guessing game… Anyway, the conversation started great. He was super impressed I learned so fast, in a line of work I had never been in before. I was always trying to learn and streamline things in the office, I was great with all the patients and I even sparked a new passion for the field. After he basically fawned over my skills he goes, but I actually have to let you go.…

So I was let go from my job on Monday.

My boss asked if we could have our three month review. Mind you, I have been asking for reviews every month because I wanted to make sure that during my probation I was meeting the job requirements. I only did that because I never got an actual employment contract so it was a guessing game…

Anyway, the conversation started great. He was super impressed I learned so fast, in a line of work I had never been in before. I was always trying to learn and streamline things in the office, I was great with all the patients and I even sparked a new passion for the field. After he basically fawned over my skills he goes, but I actually have to let you go.

Why? Because he doesn’t trust me. He doesn’t trust me because he thinks I am trying to have his employees gang up on him due to all the rather suspicious and very illegal stuff he does.

My coworker who has been there for 4 years runs our bosses name through the dirt every chance they get. One pay period I noticed my hours didn’t match to what I had worked. I asked my coworker and they also have had their hours deducted without being asked many times before and they never once made a peep. I advocated for them and told them that what our boss did was wrong and it says so in the Employee Standards Act. Could we have just reported him to the labour board? Yeah. Did we? Definitely not! We just asked about it in separate emails. Turns out my coworker threw me under the bus saying they didn’t mean to ask for a revision and that I was coercing them. So instead of advocating for proper treatment, my coworker whimpered and hid behind our bosses ankles while I took the blame for “being toxic”.

Here’s the final reason why I was let go: “I just don’t trust you, you could sue me down the line and I don’t want to live with that on my shoulders.” Hmmm, sounds a little guilty.

If he thought he was gonna get in trouble while I was employed, he’s got a bigger problem now with that shitty reason. I was gonna play nice and guide my boss to more ethical employment practices but I guess he doesn’t want me to uncover whatever it is that is making him feel guilty.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes I guess.
