I had a recruiter contact me about a role recently, and after hearing the spec described, I asked for the company name and went away and looked them up on Glassdoor as the name rang a bell, but I couldn't quite pinpoint why.
After hearing the anonymous ex employee/employee reviews on there, I returned to the recruiter and politely declined. The reviews were littered with warnings about management and other flaws of the company that people had witnessed.
I actually worked for a “cowboy company” a few years ago, which was an absolute mess of an ordeal and took a huge toll on my mental health. I left their first Glassdoor review and it seemingly opened the floodgates to others reporting how poorly people were treated, and I've since heard that the company are struggling to hire now that their reputation is available for the public to see.
It isn't much, but it's something in giving some power back to the people!
