I work as a Land Surveyor that I went back to school for at the age of 46. Worked for the same company since I graduated and enjoyed my job immensely as I got to work alone outside all day. I even worked outside in the brutal MN winters. I was working in a ditch today and was asked to come in for a meeting, which I thought was my performance eval. I was told that I am being let go as they hired someone with more experience than me. I was completely blindsided by this and my boss couldnt even look me in the eye. I needed to bring all my equipment back to the office and he helped but wouldnt get in the elevator alone with me. I am so pissed off as I busted my ass for him.
I did manage to find a job as head of maintenance and grounds at a luxury resort 3 hours N with a Cabin included for free but very primitive and no wifi. Needless to say after 50 years of busting my ass making other people money like i was taught to its time to live the quiet life the way I want to now. Trust me there is no loyalty, burn it all down.
