This isn’t really as satisfying as the stories you’ve read where the employee just walks out, but it’s still a big victory for me. For months I’ve been spending my evenings at this building trying to keep myself entertained (security in an empty building). The security contractor is run poorly by a bunch of jackasses. They keep calling me during the week to demand I come in after my 9-5. Today a supervisor walked in with a packet of papers for me to read through and a bunch of training to do. I told him “I can do it if you want because I’m clocked in right now, but that won’t get us anywhere because this is my last shift.” Felt like a million dollars right there.
I will likely try to find another weekend job elsewhere, but for the early spring I’m just gonna try to enjoy my weekends.
