I work at a tech company and have been working remotely about 25 hours a week (should be 40 on paper but fuck them) for 2 years and making money for the big man. Recently they required us to go back to office and have a “hybrid” work and remote set up. I hate driving to work, dealing with the traffic, dealing with people, and losing the perks of working at home so I demanded to have my base salary doubled (base is 130k, but considering how much money we make them this isnt a big deal) and that they expense my gas and reimburse car payments. They refused and so I quit on the spot, im not settling for this (benefits of being at an will employee, I can drop everything im doing and quit anytime, just like how they can fire me at any time too). Considering how hot the tech industry and how desirable my skills are, I can EASILY get higher paying with double salary and remote jobs lined up within a week.
Ps: they also have performance reviews. Wtf? You hired me so let me do my job, leave me alone. Dont come “assessing” what I have done. You knew what you were getting when you interviewed me.
