I learned a few years back that company loyalty doesn’t exist. I was with one place for over 15 years then laid off by phone (while sitting in my office in corporate HQ) and told my job was eliminated as of that moment. So yeah.
Fast forward to more recent times. I do B2B tech sales, good salary and better commission. Except the latest company randomly decided not to pay commission to plan, among their other problems.
I got recruited by another company in the industry offering a 40% increase in base salary. I’m in. Problem is I was finally getting a big a** commission this past Friday that was overdue. I had to “be on payroll” the day it pays out. New company could only wait so long, so I agreed to start this Monday (today.) Friday at 8:15 am I send in notice that I’m leaving by 5 pm. They lost their sh** largely on, who will do what you do? Not my problem especially since you decided to remove the other guy from my team the other month to go do something else. Clearly, what we do isn’t a priority so I’m not sticking around to get the boot. Shipped the company computer back charged to their credit card.
F them and their corporate greed and bs.
