The title says it. A little back story, I recently acquired my class A drivers license( basically I drive most commercial vehicles). I began searching for a job that fits that newly obtained license. About 6 weeks ago, I found a job and let my current employer know with a proper two weeks notice since I do appreciate my boss. He is a very fair human.
My boss came back the next day with a new position offer and raise. In short, the new position would require me to cover the current trailer drivers vacations and when not doing that, I would do my regular job. A schedule with their vacations for the remainder of the year would be provided so I could plan accordingly since they all work at night.
I decided to accept the offer.
I immediately began training and acquired a new boss to navigate their routes. I quickly figured out there’s a very poor line of communication in this area of work. I was forced to constantly push for information pertaining to what and when I would be doing for work. A month I spent working nights, not seeing a whole lot of my family and overall just very tired and fatigued. I was told I was all set training and would be back to my regular schedule up until mid June. Yesterday, I received a email saying I was to back to working nights this Wednesday.
Safe to say this didn’t sit right. After speaking with my new boss and informing him how dissatisfied I was with this news, his response was “I’m just sharing what I was told to”. No response from his boss after a call and text trying to figure out what is going left me very angry.
Commercial drivers are in such high demand I landed a interview yesterday and I accepted a job offer I got that is 10 minutes from home ( current job is 45 minutes away and the cover position is 65 minutes away).
Employers do not hold the cards anymore and we don’t have to play ball.
TL;DR my work decided to flip my schedule and just expect me to go with it giving zero explanation so I am quitting.
