Whatever happened to cubicles?

Growing up in the 80’s, I used to think a cubicle would be a miserable place to be – but I gotta tell you, I miss my cubicle. I could put up photos of my loved ones and make it my own nook, eat my lunch without anyone commenting on what I was eating, I could make weird faces during online meetings in private and I could do fuck all for a few minutes and nobody would see me or my computer screen. Now I’m stuck in open space with zero privacy, and the overlords have recently decided a fun concept where we have to fight for our desks every morning. They’ve unassigned desks & crammed all of our few belongings into tiny lockers like high school. Of course the overlords have their own offices, or are never in the office because they are traveling. What is the fucking point…

What is the fucking point of this? Is this a kind of cruel experiment? Countless studies have proven that open space not only decreases productivity, but is bad for morale and mental health.

Rant over … how do you feel about this?
