Im tired of being a “yes” man I want to put me my family and finances first

I just quit my job of 5 years at the casino. Started as a dealer in training, left as they forced me to become a boss and would not let me go back to being a dealer. I also trained 80% of the staff on all table games , was lied to by my boss saying he isn't hiring anymore dealers . Then he started two new dealers on my days off and didn't even have the audacity to talk to me after reaching out to him multiple times. I feel every job I have I put way to much into for low level money. I'm tired of putting years into companys with no opportunity for salary advancement or recognition for my work put in. I feel every job I have I put way to much into for low level money. I'm tired of putting years into companys with no opportunity for salary advancement or recognition for my work put in. I had 5 days left of my two weeks at the casino. I called and said ” Seeing that after five years of being there , you lied to me about a position I wanted now I will not finish my remaining days there after being disrespected”.

Now I am looking for a whole new career starting from square one. I want to get out of the casino business. I am smart strong and love working with my hands I have experience in almost everything. I just need some advice. In prior interviews I've bent over backwards for the jobs needs and what the company wants. This time I want to put my foot down from the beginning as to what I deserve as an employee. Any advice during the interview process on how to not let them talk me into a job I'm a slave too? Sounds ridiculous but I need some help here on how to not become my next jobs new bitch. Currently door dashing and working part time. I have an interview with the county on wednesday for a highway maintenance position. I want to be prepared to deny the job or demand the wage I want without sounding like an unpredictable entiltled dick head. Also if anyone has any recomendations on good entry level companies that pay well and have opportunity for advancement in the Lake Tahoe Area…. That would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time
