My Manager Just Told Me I’m Attention Seeking For Working Hard.

Hi just wanted to vent a lil’. Lately my department has been really behind because of how short staffed we are. Before this had happened, my manager had a meeting with me as I wanted to discuss compensation for my new role of trying to keep the department afloat. She expressed to me many times that she did not want to hire new people, despite being short staffed and implied she wanted me to take up more of a leadership role. I told her that the pay I was getting would not compensate for that. To which she replied she’s wants to see my performance first before reevaluating my pay. Fast forward two month; and I’ve been doing just that. This week however we were more behind than usual. I made the tragic mistake of helping us get caught up completely.

Aft wards I suggested to my manager and co workers a different method to which no one responded to.

Once I suggested it once more, my manager told me we were caught up so we didn’t need to do this new process I had suggested.

I enlightened her and my team that I had helped us get caught up, so that’s why I mentioned my solution to avoid being that behind again.

This was followed up by my co workers telling me I’m not the only one who works hard. My manager then chimed in with them to say work is not a competition and I’m being attention seeking.

This threw me off, considering I never said I work harder than anyone. And I continuously thank my co workers for their efforts and feedback.

I think the thing that made me the most upset though is my manager saying she wanted to see my performance before a pay compensation, but when I try to do that, I’m gas lit and told I’m making it about myself?

Long story short I’ll be doing the bare minimum until I can find another job.
