Hope this a good sub for this:
I work at a Virginia state agency. Today we heard that the Glen Younkin administration will be eliminating all telework for state employees. We have been 100% work from home since the beginning of 2019, at my agency at least.
I'm completely disheartened and disgusted by this. We'll all be taking a pay cut essentially to commute in each day. We'll all be losing time we aren't compensated for. In my case it will be an hour a day at least in travel there and back. I'm sure some folks will lose even more time. At a time when gas is at an all time high.
I'll personally be less motivated, less productive, more unhappy, spend more time in traffic for no reason, and most importantly I'll get even less time with my kids. And for what? So the new governor can throw his weight around? Because COVID is “over”? So what? I have a suspicion it's really because teleworking is a “liberal” policy and good worker bees belong in the hive.
I know lots of folks have never had the opportunity I had to telework and I don't mean to compare our situations. I've been fortunate It's just that this is a personal loss for me and my coworkers. For. No. Reason.
This has become a rant, so I'll conclude by thanking the voters of Virginia for this change. Thanks so much and thank God we slayed the CRT dragon. Fuck Glen Younkin and fuck you.
EDIT: forgot to say that this announcement was prefaced by telling us all how appreciated we all are. I've never felt more unappreciated.
