People with money, by definition, decide if you're going to be a carpenter or a prostitute (see the title). They decide if your labor is going to be used to create new wealth (houses, infrastructure, factories, schools), or if you're going to be spreading your legs for a 300 pound greaseball you just met who doesn't want to use a condom.
This is where literally all of my objections to the current system arise.
Hedge funds could be using their massive financial power, their power to decide what millions of us do for a living, to drive us into professions that increase the wealth of the human species. What did they give us instead? Administrative bloat. Useless jobs. Or worse, we're creating stuff that actively makes the world a shittier place. Private prisons. The tobacco industry. Instagram.
Hedge funds had the financial superpowers to be the heroes of our society.
Instead they decided to act like a bunch of bloodsucking parasites.
