Like stated this is an absolute theory and should not be taken as fact. But general birth rates overall dropped significantly in 2020 when it was predicted to make a huge jump when everyone was bored and staying home. Making the total around 55.8 out of 1000 for women giving birth.
We dropped 4% from a record low of 2019 mainly from people being responsible and using birth control to keep from getting pregnant. In 2019 CDC reports 629,898 women or 11.4 out of 1000.

Now if I were a little gremlin that wanted people to work for me and my family line, I would see a gap in the human resources department. I would lobby for making sure that the workforce didn't deplete to keep the machine working.
Not saying this is fact. Just an observation.
