Sorry for the lack of details, but I don't want to get into any work drama lol.
100% that person would have been written up, but not fired if they didn't show up. I just still don't get why that person didn't just call off. The worst part? We were very overstaffed, but not once did any of the supervisors offer for that person to go home.
I kept thinking about my partner and how painful it would be for him if I missed his graduation, after 4 years of hard work. I hope the spouse is ok.
The only silver lining is that pretty much every coworker had the same thoughts, so not everyone is that brainwashed.
