I work in an Ice Cream/Cookie Shop that usually gets swarmed with customers so it requires you to be moving constantly and on your feet for hours. I was working a 7.5 hour shift that day. don't usually complain about these things, but I am aware that I am being overworked and underpaid. But the good news I had gotten was that one of the managers of the store told me I could take a 30 minute break if I get too tired from serving waves of customers. So I served a few more families and took that sweet break I needed to rejuvenate.
I get a call from my boss/store owner who asks me where I was and I told him I was taking my 30. He says I can't take breaks and that he's like 50 and that he never needs to take breaks and there is a 30 year age gap between us. The man runs a register and sweeps here and there and thinks he's doing actual work like the rest of us who have to take shit from customers and serve their ridiculously large orders. He probably hasn't scooped the ice cream in years because that shit is literally rock hard ice to scoop out and I would describe myself as a pretty large guy and everyone in the store needs me to help them scoop.
He proceeds to say that he pays me $10 and that taking 30 minute breaks is unacceptable. This guy is so out of reality it's sad. I have a house rent of $1200, a sick mom who needs health care that Medicaid refused to expand care to even though we have poverty level income. Fuck Texas for that. And on top of it all no breaks. I hope this guy loses every single penny of his wealth.
