Me leaving this company has been a long time coming.
I work in residential home building. Six months ago my company sent me to an area of town about 45 minutes away from the office. I dont get a lot of communication from anyone at the office. They kind of just leave me here and expect me to get the job done. I have no clue what’s going on with the company.
However, I went back to college and finished my degree so that I could get promoted. I just finished in December. My company was hiring Project Managers in January so I applied and reached out. They knew of my intentions of finishing school in order to get the promotion. They ended up blowing me off and telling me that they weren’t ready to promote me.
Two months later, they hire a guy for the same position as me, and force me to train him for three weeks. (We have several guys in this position so he wasn’t “replacing” anyone). Well, then on the fourth week, I get a text from my boss saying “(trainee) is shadowing (project manager) today. You’ll be alone today.” So they ended up hiring someone, making me train him, and then gave him the project manager spot that they KNEW I wanted.
So I’ve been applying to project manager spots at other companies ever since. I finally got hired last week and sent in my letter of resignation with a two week notice. This week, we have a golf tournament on Friday to support a local charity. I’ve been looking forward to it all year as I really enjoy golf. I’m here til next Friday so I’m still a part of the company during this golf tournament. Everyone in the company is going to be there. Except for me apparently. Because I received a text from the office manager yesterday evening saying she replaced me with someone else and that I can no longer play.
I have been consistently offended by this company and this is the last straw. I am considering not showing up on Monday after the tournament for my last week of work.
