A coworker got assigned a task that was out of their league. So then I got asked to do it. I had no idea how to do it but knew I could do it, just a matter of teaching myself. Finished it in half a day.
Well this coworker now wants me to show them how I did it. They are giving me the vibes that they are the fake it till you make it type.
So the Problem is, I know they conceptually won’t solve a problem like this in the future if I teach them. I solved the problem because I practice and have comp sci schooling. This coworker (non comp sci) thinks they can know what I know just by me showing them… it’s like yeah no… this out of your league.
I also have asked for a raise/promotion and was told there was no money. But new people have been hired. I’m at the point where I don’t want to show anyone my self taught and directed skills (only comp sci person). Not because I’m petty but because I genuinely feel like I’ve given off too nice of a demeanour or something.
TLDR
I have the knowledge and experience to teach myself pretty much anything. Coworker thinks they can piggy back off my skills, insisting I teach them , instead of teaching themselves. while my boss denies me a raise and promotion. I don’t want to share my knowledge anymore as a result. This coworker is not in my league and I want the world to know it and the coworker to know it.
