We just temp-for-hired a guy at the same rate as a 30yr tenured employee. How does that make sense? Other then exploitation.

Groceries are up, gas is up, inflation is way up.
If your company makes more than $10M / year:
$20 base pay – that's the cost of living now days
$1 per year of tenure – yeah, your raise outpaces inflation?!
$2 for every degree / applicable training – collage isn't so flattering this way, is it?
